MEDICAL/ONCOLOGICAL Someone illegally counsels you to get off prescriptions; URGENT: what is the Federal Law?

Okay,so. I have this friend who suddenly thinks he/she is a miracle worker. Prays for someone with 4th stage cancer, who has just begun CHEMO treatments, and counsels the person to stop the chemo treatments. The logic is, God will not heal the person from cancer if the person takes the chemo.

Now, I know that it is ILLEGAL, for someone who does not have a medical license, to counsel a person to take himself/herself off their meds -- so CERTAINLY it is illegal to counsel someone to get off Chemo.

My opinion is, yes, maybe God will heal the person. BUT the person should stay on the chemo until the person is healed. The doctors can do tests and say whether the person is healed or not.

In the idea of it all, the person doing this counseling, thinks that one has to get off the chemo treatments to SHOW God that the person believes in the healing before the person can get healed. I'm sorry if I'm redundant. I am very upset about this.

This person doing this counseling has never even had any training about how to minister healing to people. It's all book knowledge.

I think this person could be sued and sent to Federal Prison for this, especially if the person with the cancer dies, and the family gets mad about this.

DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT LAW IT IS, so I can cite it to this person and say, here is the statute, this is the precedental case, and the penalties can range from x to y?

URGENTLY need this info!

I share/understand your frustration. There are even people who make money out of persuading people to give up conventional treatment and try their kind of quackery instead. And I despise such people.

I have no knowledge of the details of the cancer patient under pressure to give up conventional treatment. But in general a stage 4 cancer is not curable. The purpose of chemotherapy in such cases is to manage the problems the cancer causes for as long as possible.

I realise that it will be hard to convince this person that he/she has got it wrong, but it might be useful to make him/her aware of cases where this line of thought led to serious harm: http://whatstheharm.net/faithhealing.htm鈥?/a>MEDICAL/ONCOLOGICAL Someone illegally counsels you to get off prescriptions; URGENT: what is the Federal Law?
It is not illegal to advise someone to stop medical treatment or to use a certain alternative medical treatment as long as both people are legally competent adults and the advisor is not falsely representing themselves as a medical professional. Its only illegal to provide medical treatment without a license. Advising an adult to stop treatment, even if that advice costs the person their life, is free speech protected by the Constitution. As frustrating as it may be, you cannot protect someone form making their own bad choices, ignoring their doctor's advice, or following the advice of an idiot.
