Is it worth trying to get in the FBI?

Im 16 and female, and i know i want to do something in criminal law. For example, a detective or Crime Scene Investigator. My goal is to get into the FBI and be an FBI detective. But i don't know what i should do/study, to get there. Should i join the military for a few years? Should i get a job as a cop and work my way up? Please help!Is it worth trying to get in the FBI?
The FBI is a very hard agency to get with, they require at minimum a Bachelors degree preferably in Accounting plus 3 years of professional working experience, preferably in Law Enforcement or the military. Your record has to be squeaky clean and your credit has to be great. You must be able to get a top secret security clearance if hired so if you have any criminal charges in you past, that will automatically disqualify you. However, the FBI is a very prestigious agency that pays very well, and there are many jobs you can do within the FBI. But to get an offer of employment from them you need to be a top notch citizen with nothing on your record and a great image with the community you live in.

If I were you I would go into the military for 4 years, get my Bachelors degree, do some volunteer work so you can show you are a positive influence in your community, and stay out of as much trouble as possible, DO NOT hang around people that are likely to get arrested, because if you get arrested and charged with multiple crimes your shot with the FBI will be over. Also other than student loans, make sure your credit is perfect, you cannot get a top security clearance if you have bad credit, this means make sure you pay all your bills and pay them on time and don't get really far into debt. Don't have a lot of credit cards that have not been paid off etc.

During the hiring process the FBI will send a background investigator to your current residence and they will talk to all your neighbors and all your previous employers to see what kind of a person you are. That's why I said do volunteer work, show you them you are being a positive influence on your community. And don't hang out or bring bad people around you, your family or your residence.

You are very young so you have a great opportunity to make sure you complete all these steps, if you do not want to go into the military then get a job with a Law Enforcement agency, whether it be county, city, or state. But I cannot stress enough the most important thing is going to be your personal history, if you hang around bad people who break the law it will eventually rub off on you and or cause you to get caught up in their nonsense so stay positive and stay focused. Its a very tough career to get into but it will be worth it in the end.Is it worth trying to get in the FBI?
James Jordan's answer was pretty good. It as not exactly right, but it was a good try. Why would some asshole give him a thumbs down?

To get int the FBI you need a 4 year degree with a super high GPA, a flawless;ess background, three years professional work experience (that leaves McDonald's and the Car wash out) and great physical condition. They are highly selective. If you are highly motivated, it can be done. Check out this link.http://www.fbijobs.gov/
