Also, what is the unemployment rate for lawyers in general? What % of law school graduates are unable to find work within their field using their degree?
It depends on where you went to law school. For example, the unemployment rate for lawyers graduating from Harvard is quite low. But from lesser programs I imagine it's significantly higher...
If you really want to make absolutely sure you'll get a job, go to a top school. Even then, it's not a sure thing. What % of law school graduates are unable to find work within their field using their degree?I don't know the exact numbers but it is either do something for the government, start your own independent practice, or join a firm...
I know a few guys who got done with their law degrees and can't find field related work. Just start applying at random places. you have to understand you can use your skill set to "help" people to see what they can get away with.
I doubt there are exact numbers but from as far as I can tell about 1/3 do quite well, 1/3 do get legal work of some kind but it will be awhile before they are making what people consider to be what a lawyer should make. And about 1/3 never get anywhere in the legal profession. These are generalizations and the numbers will vary a lot around the country.
